We’re on to Springfield!

The big field trip to the Springfield Museums is tomorrow! The students will be taking workshops to learn about Dr. Suess and Native Americans (Primary), Simple Machines and American History (3/4 class) and Space Explorations and Forensic Science (5/6 class), in addition to exploring the Science Museum, the local history museum, and Dr. Seuss Museum. The day starts early: the bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. from the school and 8:55 a.m. from the Park and Ride.  The Field Trip also ends late: with drop-off at 4:00 p.m. at the Park and Ride and 4:30 p.m. at the school. If we know we will be more than fifteen minutes late, we will try to get the word out by phone. A staff member will wait with students at the Park and Ride and at the school until they are all picked up.

Please have your student dress for the weather, it’s going to be cooler than it has been. Please have your student wear their Rowe School T-Shirts.  Students having home lunch should bring lunch and something to drink in their backpack, students having school lunch will be served their lunch at the museum. All students will have snacks provided in the morning and the afternoon. Please do not send your student with candy, soda, money or electronics.

Students learned about Canada on Monday from Andy Holman, a Professor of Canadian Studies at Bridgewater State University (and a native of Ottowa). He also met with staff to help us start planning our Cultural Study of Canada this year.  We’re excited to get that going. The kick-off and luncheon will be Thursday, Oct. 26th. If you know of anyone with connections to Canada or Canadian culture, please let us know.

I came across a link to a website that I think some families might find useful, full of suggestions and strategies for parenting school-age children. Let me know what you think of it: https://www.parentshelpingparents.org/
