Thank you to the voters of Rowe for supporting the school budget at their Town Meeting this week. We will continue, as always, to offer the best academic and social/emotional education for all our students, and appreciate the vote of confidence.
Mrs. Lively’s sewing after school workshop wrapped up this week, Mr. Crean’s Ukulele lessons continue today. If any parents or guardians are interested in offering a six-week after-school activity next year, let me know so we can get you on the schedule. There is a small stipend, and money for supplies, and you’ll be sharing your passion with students, which is the real reward.
We finished up MCAS testing this week, everyone worked hard and did their best. Results will be sent home in September. We will always comply with state mandates, but we believe that the best way to gauge our students progress is through long-term interaction, discussion, and authentic assessment that evaluates the whole child, as opposed to a standardized snapshot like the MCAS.
Save the date: Thursday, May 31 for Art and Music Night, beginning at 6:00 at the school. See the amazing art your students have been creating, and hear our singers and players demonstrate what they’ve been learning this year.
I came across this interesting article on teaching children to self-regulate, specifically how to deal with feelings and stress, I hope you find it useful: http://www.heysigmund.
