So much happening, so little time…

Last night, the North Berkshire School Union School Committee chose John Franzoni, Principal of the Brayton Elementary School in North Adams, to be the new Superintendent. We will miss Jon Lev, and are looking forward to getting to know John.
As the school year winds down, it also feels like it speeds up. The Primary Class play was this afternoon (it was AMAZING!), and their Authors’ Teas are next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The 3/4 class is spending the day at the Park with Mr. Ted from the Hitchcock Center on Friday (6/8), Field Day is next Thursday (6/14), the Talent Show is next Friday (6/15) followed by Graduation on Monday, 6/18 (6:30 at the school). Preschool’s last day is Thursday, 6/14. There’s more going on, check the newsletter and the calendar on the school website for updates.
Speaking of graduation, the 6th graders want everyone to know that graduation is a celebration for the whole school community, and that everyone is welcome, and that it will be a more joyous celebration if more of the Rowe School community is there to wish our graduates well. They (and I) hope you can make it.
Summer is an important time for students learning, even if they are not in Summer School. In addition to playing and swimming, having students read every day, finding time to talk about the books they’re reading with them, talking about math as you shop or cook with your student, these things will benefit them and help prevent the “summer slide”. Here’s an article about ways to prevent summer learning loss, I hope you find it useful:  https://www.edutopia.org/blog/7-ways-prevent-summer-learning-loss-barbara-dianis
