This week the Rowe School is raising money for hurricane relief in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. Look for a flyer coming home today with more details, but the long and short of it is students are encouraged to bring whatever donations they can any (or every) day next week, and the class that raises the most money will get a pizza party. And save your bottles and cans, the PTP is holding another bottle and can drive, the proceeds of which will also go to hurricane relief. Let’s show those affected by the hurricanes how much we care.
Conferences are coming! Conferences are coming! Family conferences are happening the week of November 6th. They can be scheduled Monday, 11/6 from 3:30-6:00, and Tuesday or Wednesday, 11/7 or 11/8, from 12:45-3:30. Call Laurie to set up your time. Please note: that is an unusual week. We have a full day of school on Monday, 11/6, followed by conferences from 3:30-6:00; 12:30 release on Tuesday, 11/7 and Wednesday, 11/8, no school on Thursday, 11/9, it is a Professional Development day for teachers, and no school Friday, 11/10 due to the Veteran’s Day holiday. Got all that? Call us if you have questions.
Tailgate Trick or Treating and a Community Pot Luck dinner is happening Friday, 10/27, starting at 5:30. Join us if you can. You will also be receiving an invitation to the next PTP meeting, Wednesday, 11/1 at 8 a.m., for coffee and treats, and to learn about the Rowe School’s Blizzard Bag pilot program. Also on the agenda will be more about the mission of the PTP and how it benefits your student and our school.
Here’s an article I came across about the power of positive reinforcement, as opposed to punishment, on children’s behavior. This mirrors how we try to work with students and their behavior at school. I hope you find it interesting:
