We have our first evacuation and reunification practice next Tuesday, October 23 working on what to do if there is an emergency situation at the school and we have to evacuate the students and staff. The staff is preparing the students, working to keep their stress level low, and have all of us better prepared in case of an emergency. A letter with more detail is coming home in the folders today. There is also a letter about a couple schedule changes in November, please take a look.
The K-6 students are taking a field trip to Red Gate Farm in Ashfield tomorrow, learning what it’s like to work on a farm. We’ll leave in the morning and get back before dismissal. Ask your student about it tomorrow evening.
The after-school Ukulele workshop continues, but we’re looking for more. If you’re interested in running one let us know.
The 5/6 class is having a fundraiser for their Washington, D.C. trip, and Mrs. Lively’s Relay for Life team is also holding one…please be generous.
Next Friday, October 26 is Tailgate Trick or Treating at the school starting at 5:30, followed by a Community Pot Luck Dinner at 6:15. Hope you, and your trick-or-treaters can make it!
Here’s a link to an article about sensitivity to other cultures when it comes to Halloween costumes. It is geared to an older group, but I think it is an important message to consider.
I hope you find it interesting:
